ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County K-9 Adoption Center always has a friendly four-legged friend in need of a stable home.

Today, Muskingum County K-9 Adoption Center Volunteer Doug McQuaid brought a very sweet, yet vocal, housebroken four-year-old.

“Today we have Diesel. He came in to us as a stray. He’s actually a boxer mix,” McQuaid said. “He is not neutered yet but that will be taken care of. He is very friendly. Loves everybody. Loves the snow.”

The K-9 adoption center that has been on Newark Road is in the process of moving to its permanent location on the East Pike and should be completed by Thursday.

The K-9 adoption center receives apprehended strays that have no identification and readies them for adoption, while occasionally a previous owner recognizes their pet and takes it back home.

“Yeah, Cost is actually with all vaccinations, spay or neutered, whichever it may be is 105 dollars. That does come with the dog license as well, that is good from now clear til next year at January 31 of 2023,” McQuaid said.

The K-9 adoption center handles pet food and straw to help your pet through the winter weather and urges outdoor pet owners to keep an eye on their animals during the inclement weather.
