Kevin Fell introduced as Tri-Valley football coach

DRESDEN, Ohio – Tri-Valley has their new head football coach and it’s Kevin Fell.

Fell was introduced as the Scotties new head coach at a school board meeting on Thursday evening. He brings with him almost four decades of head coaching experience.

Fell has coached for seven different schools all around the state of Ohio. His most recent job was head coach of Elyria in 2016. He’s also had stints at Wapakoneta, Lakewood, and Amherst.

The reason for taking the job in Dresden was simple for Fell.

“I came here because I was looking to get back to a smaller community. I’ve been a division one coach the last 20 years. It was time for me to get back to what football is all about. Which is a community sport.

Fell was born in Coshocton and his parents are both from Muskingum County. He’s racked up 273 wins in his career along with four appearances in the state final four. He was inducted into the Ohio High School Football Hall of Fame in 2008.

Of course Fell will have big shoes to fill. He replaces Justin Buttermore who left earlier this year to take the job at Granville. Buttermore helped turn Tri-Valley into one of the most dominate programs in the state of Ohio the past decade.

Fell acknowledged that he has a big task in trying to maintain the success that Buttermore built.

“I’ve never been blessed to take a job where they were successful. I usually get the jobs where they aren’t successful. This is a whole different kind of pressure, but we are enjoying it,”  said Fell.

Fell will get to address the team for the first time Friday morning. The Scotties open the season Aug. 24 at Logan.
