ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Remember when lawn darts were a common pastime leisure and ax throwing was something witnessed at a Paul Bunyan show, today Kick-N-Ax opened Zanesville’s first axe throwing bar.

Axe throwing is quickly becoming a popular recreation here in Ohio and Kick-N-Ax Co-Owner Elyse Luburgh explains the idea behind bringing it to Zanesville.

“My Brother-in-law and his wife had done it, my husband and I had done it. We realized it was just such a different sport to have here and Zanesville doesn’t really offer a whole lot of fun and activity for adults and teenagers. So we thought this would be the perfect opportunity,” Luburgh said.

Kick-N-Ax ensures safety by having certified trained coaches with customers in the ax room as well as banning liquor from the ax room and being consumed during the scheduled event time.

“So everyone is required when you walk through the door or when you book online that you are to have a waiver signed,” Luburgh said. “Anyone under the age of 18 to the age of 14 must have a waiver signed by an adult or guardian and anybody under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult.”

Kick-N-Ax is located at 970 Linden Avenue and is open every evening Thursday through Sunday. For further details or to schedule a session, you can call (740) 487-0007 or visit them online.
