ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A local business is paying it forward.

Kroger has a booth at the fair selling foods such as apples, oranges, and bananas. All proceeds will benefit the Muskingum County 4-H Program.

“Anything Kroger can do to help the community that’s what we’re out here for,” Kroger Dairy Manager Marti King said. “It’s ambitious to do. That’s my main goal is to help others as much as we can help ourselves.”

Wednesday is “Kroger Day” at the fair. When you purchase two can food items from Kroger, you’ll receive free entry into fair. Those non-perishable food items and proceeds will go toward feeding the hungry at Christ’s Table.

“We are so excited about Kroger Day at the fair,” Executive Director Keely Warden said. “It’s great to know that you have a community partner that’s thinking about you, they know what you do, they believe in what you do, they believe in your mission, and they are there to help. What we encourage people to do is the corns, green beans, the peas, the beans. Those are the things that help us fix a nutritious meal everyday.”

Warden said last year they’ve collected enough cans to sustain them all the way through the month of October.
