Last Swim Of Summer

DRESDEN, Ohio– Labor Day is considered the unofficial end of summer, but what is officially closing for the season is the Dresden Swim Center. On Monday many locals took their last swim of the season.

Dresden Swim Center Manager Nick Bice said summer 16 has been very successful. Bice said this summer ranks among one of the highest ever for the swim center. Although he won’t have the official numbers until after the pool closes Monday. He says this summer was record breaking. Bice contributes the successful summer season to the nice weather we’ve experienced.

“We really took a hit last couple years and we really need a hot summer to make some money,” Bice said. “Just really happy about the way the summer turned out weather wise.”

With the last day of the summer season for the Dresden Swim Center several residents took advantage of the gorgeous upper 80s temperatures by taking a dip in the pool or sitting poolside catching sun rays. After the people leave and the pool is empty, there is still work to be done. Bice explained what the process is like preparing the swim center for the end of the season.

“We have to move all the chairs and winterize all of our bathrooms and concession. Moving the chairs, draining the pool, and doing a lot of maintenance stuff here within the next couple weeks in September is usually what we have to do to close the season,” Bice said.

The Dresden Swim Center will reopen on Memorial Day of 2017.
