Lady Muskies split double-dip on Senior Day

NEW CONCORD, Ohio — The Muskingum softball team celebrated Senior Day on Saturday afternoon, and while the celebration didn’t start how they hoped, they ended it on a high note.

The Lady Muskies faced the Student Princes of Heidelberg in a double-header Saturday, falling in Game 1 by a final of 6-0.

Heidelberg’s Casey Moore went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI, including a 2-run home run in the victory. Abbey McKee lead the Student Princes with three hits in four trips to the plate.

The Muskies managed just four hits in the loss.

There wasn’t much more offense to speak of in the afternoon’s second game– with Muskingum managing only three hits. But after falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, the Muskies scored runs in each of the 4th and 5th innings to win by a final of 2-1.

Gabrielle McNeil pitched 7 innings, allowing just 4 hits, while earning the win for Muskingum.

The Muskingum softball team is back in action with another double-header on Sunday at home against Marietta.
