Lakewood softball going back to final four

PICKERINGTON, Ohio – In a rematch of last year’s regional championship game, the Lakewood Lancers got the best of Maysville yet again.

The top ranked team in DII jumped on the Panthers early and stayed up the entire game winning 15-1. The Lancers got great pitching from Courtney Vierstra who struck out nine and gave up just three hits.

The Lancers are heading back to the state tournament for the third year in a row. They’ll face Johnathan Alder in the state semi-finals on Friday at 3 p.m. at Akron’s Firestone Stadium.
