Larry Shank looks back at career in college athletics

NEW CONCORD, Ohio – Last week Muskingum University athletic director Larry Shank announced that after spending the last 48 years working in college athletics that he would be retiring in June of 2018.

Shank took over as Muskingum’s athletic director in 2001. The St. Clairsville native has spent over 40 years as a coach and administrator in college athletics. Prior to coming to Muskingum, Shank was the head football and wrestling coach at Heidelberg University.
Under Shank’s watch Muskingum has had numerous improvements to their athletic facilities, including a new turf field at McConagha Stadium, a new soccer and lacrosse complex on the north end of campus, and renovations to the Recreation Center and John Glenn Gymnasium.
Shank said in retirement he still plans to live in New Concord and watch Muskingum athletics.
