Less Money for Muskingum County Job and Family Services
The Muskingum County Commissioners and Muskingum County Job and Family Services reached an agreement on rent rates this morning.
The two organizations share a building at 1830 East Pike. The building is owned by the commissioners, and Job and Family Services pays an annual rent to use it. But sharing a building is just one way the two work together. Job and Family Services receives funds from the county, but thanks to new, state funds they will need a little less this year.
"Even though we’ve done so well and have the vast volume we did not utilize all the funds that were given by the state for this program, so therefore we are allowed to transfer those dollars over to child support which reduces the county obligation to child support," the Director of the Muskingum County Job and Family Services, Randy Cochrane said.
By not using all the funds that are delegated to Income Control Maintenance, Job and Family Services is able to reduce the funding from the commissioners by $200,000 this year.
"It’s a one time opportunity to help the commissioners out and kind of repay them a little bit for all that they’ve done for us for a number of years," Cochrane said.
Cochrane said the additional funding from the state came to help the more than 3,000 people that are newly qualified for Medicad.
