Library Offers Electronic Device Tech Support

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Over the past few years, the way people use libraries has changed. The ways people receive information has gone from print on paper to digital signals across electronic devices. Muskingum County Library System Emerging Technologies Assistant Kylie Bell explains how the library is changing with the times as well as helping their patrons bridge the digital divide.

“The library offers one-on-one tech-times,” Bell said. “So many community members find themselves with new technology right after the holiday season. So they can come in and we do a one-hour appointment blocks where we can sit down, either help them set up or even just go through technology that they might be a little iffy on.”

MCLS offers the free assistance sessions to help set up members’ devices because digital literacy is becoming as important as basic literacy.

“Technology is a super important part of our daily lives and is becoming more and more important. Job applications, renting apartments, all types of basic necessities are now accessed through the internet,” Bell said.

MCLS provides multiple applications for their patrons to access many of the services the library has to offer, more conveniently than ever. For more information you can call (740)453-0391.
