Lieutenant Governor Visits Genesis Hospital

ZANESVILLE, Ohio-Ohio Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted visited Genesis Hospital this morning to speak on the COVID pandemic.
The statesman’s remarks focused on the increased strain on hospital staff and resources. Ohio COVID cases have been hitting record highs in the last few weeks.
“His team has been working overtime and around the clock. They’re running short on space, including in the ICU. In Ohio, in the last 21 days, we have seen cases go from 1,300 to over 3,400, but the rate of cases is worse here. Matt tells me we’ve seen a triple in the last three weeks.”, Husted said to reporters Wednesday morning.
Zanesville Mayor Don Mason also made an impassioned plea for a renewal in virus awareness. Recently thirty city staff have been quarantined or isolated due to the virus.
“I think of all the people we have in Zanesville who are our loved ones, our loved ones, who are postponing important medical procedures because they’re afraid of the COVID virus. They’re also afraid of not postponing the procedures and moving forward. We have to try to address this now.” , Mason said at the same press conference.
Also in attendance were Genesis CEO Matt Perry and public health officials Dr. Jack Butterfield and Health Commissioner Corey Hamilton.
