Little Muskies pound Panthers to remain tied atop the MVL

NEW CONCORD, Ohio — John Glenn jumped on-top of New Lexington early and didn’t let up as the Little Muskies defeated the Panthers 68-45 at The Fish Tank on Saturday night.
John Glenn came into Saturday night’s match-up tied in the loss column with Tri-Valley for first place in the MVL; and after the Scotties easily dispatched of New Lexington on Tuesday night, the Little Muskies hoped to do the same to keep pace atop the league standings.
Justin Heacock and Shane Bonner, a dynamic duo on the football field as well, got the Little Muskies off to a hot start. Each hit an opening-quarter three-pointer, as Bonner scored all of his 7 first-half points in the first eight minutes. Heacock scored 5 in the opening frame and added 7 more in the second quarter to pace John Glenn with 12 first-half points.
John Glenn held a 13-point, 23-10 advantage after the first quarter, before growing the lead to 40-18 as the teams headed to the locker rooms. Jack Williams hit a pair of first-half three pointers as well for the Little Muskies, while Josh Raley also chipped in 7 first-half points.
There was no let up in the second half from John Glenn as they cruised to the 23-point victory, improving to 10-1 in MVL play. With Tri-Valley’s win over Sheridan on Saturday night, the Little Muskies remain tied with the Scotties in the loss-column for first place in the league.
John Glenn travels to McConnelsville to take on the Morgan Raiders on Tuesday night, while New Lexington takes on Perry County foe Crooksville.
