Local Artist Creates Painting To Benefit ZPD K-9 Patrol

One local artist has created a painting featuring some familiar furry faces.

It was painted by Bob Grayson, a local man who works out of Gallery G in Downtown Zanesville. The painting features 3 of the K-9 dogs of the ZPD, one of those being Conner, who we had the chance to visit today. We spoke to Lieutenant Bill Shaw of the Police Department who told us how the painting came to be.

"Seven years ago in 2007, Bob Grayson did a painting of our K-9 Paco and now that we have 3 K-9 dogs, I asked him if he would do a new painting with all three of our k-9’s in it and he graciously offered to do that."

The painting was done in acrylic and according to Grayson, took about 50 hours to complete. Prints will be made of the painting, and all of the proceeds from it will go toward funding the K-9 patrol. Shaw described how much it helps the department.

"It’s a tremendous help and the dogs not only benefit us on the street but they’re also a great public relations tool because everybody does enjoy meeting the dogs."

The painting will be unveiled at Gallery G in the Masonic Temple. It will take place during the First Friday Art Walk from 5PM to 8PM. The ZPD hopes to bring two of the dogs for guests to meet. You are encouraged to stop by and purchase a print to help support a great cause.
