White Cottage, Ohio- Friends and members of the White Cottage Church of The Brethren were in the Christmas spirit despite the rainy day.

Church members held their 9th annual live nativity event, which featured the birth of Jesus Christ.  Jennie Irvin, Church Volunteer, said that White Cottage is a small community, but they try to reach out to as many people as possible.

“We invite everyone to come inside the church where we have homemade soup, cookies and live music so people can enjoy their refreshments while listening to music,” said Irvin.  “We also have crafts and everything is free of charge.”

Irvin said that this is their way of inviting the community to celebrate Christmas and understand the real meaning behind the holiday.

“I think the real reason for Christmas gets lost.  The live nativity gives a live visual for the families so they can bring their children and see that Jesus was actually born outside in a manger.”

Irvin said that Jesus is the real reason why we celebrate Christmas.  She also said that this event takes a lot of hard work and that she would like to thank the thirty plus volunteers that help to keep this event going.
