Male suspect found dead in home after 3-hour standoff

MEDINA, Ohio (AP) — Police say a woman was shot in the head at an Ohio home and an ensuing standoff has ended with the death of a suspect inside the home.

Montville Township police in Medina County were notified around 1 a.m. Sunday that a child ran into a fast-food restaurant saying she had been assaulted. The police release says she told hospital staff the man who assaulted her shot a woman at a home.

Police were arriving at the home when a man called dispatch saying he had shot a woman.

Authorities say a man in the garage near the wounded woman ran inside the home. Police say they found him dead after a three-hour standoff.

The woman’s condition wasn’t immediately known.

Police say other children in the home were safely rescued.
