Man arrested for 2015 homicide

NEW LEXINGTON, Ohio-Â A man has been arrested in connection to a homicide in Perry County last year.
The Perry County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at approximately 6:50 a.m. on September 2, 2015.  The victim, 54-year-old Jeffery M. Patton of Corning, was found unresponsive in front of his residence.
Detectives discovered that the victim had been in an altercation with 42-year-old Robert L. Stanley Jr. who assaulted Patton.
Sgt. Adam Newlon of the Perry County Sheriff’s Office said they discovered the victim laying there in the yard with apparent trauma, likely caused from the assault.
Perry County Grand Jury indicted Stanley on one count of murder; a first degree felony and one count of felonious assault; a second degree felony.
Perry County prosecutors allege that the injuries caused by Stanley led to Patton’s death. If convicted of the murder and felony assault charges, Stanley could face up to 15 years to life in prison.
Stanley is incarcerated in the Noble Correctional Institution on unrelated charges.
