Maysville and Lakewood to face off in softball regional title game again

PICKERINGTON, Ohio – Both the Maysville Panthers and Lakewood Lancers are just one win away from heading to the state tournament in Akron.
Maysville’s only runs of the regional semi-final came on a third inning two-run homer from Kaylie Famrer. It turned out to be the only runs they would need as they beat Carrollton 2-1.
The next field over at Pickerington Central High School the Lakewood Lancers, the number one ranked team in DII, crushed Warren Local 10-1 to advance to the regional title game for the third year in a row. Courtney Vierstra gave up just four hits and struck out ten in the win.
Maysville and Lakewood played one another in the regional title game last year as well. The Lancers won that game 10-0. Winner of Saturday’s regional title game will move on to the state final four at Firestone Stadium. Saturday’s game is at noon at Pick Central High School.
