ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County Community Foundation is a philanthropic organization that raises funds to support projects and programs that serve to better the community.

MCCF Chief Executive Officer Brian Wagner announced the itinerary for the 29th Annual Groundhog Day Celebration, which proves to be the foundation’s largest fundraising event of the year.

“Well our annual Groundhog Day Celebration is coming up at the Zane State Campus Center and it will start at 5 O’clock on Friday, January 26th, 2024. And it’s a great evening that we get together, we celebrate a couple of local recipients for a couple of awards, as well as have an auction, both silent and live, to raise money for our Spring Grant Competition. So all the dollars that are raised through that annual auction goes right back out into the community when we do our Spring Grant Competition.”

Proceeds from the Groundhog Day Celebration help fund a variety of projects and programs that have already been proven successful by established, local nonprofits but are also available to support new ideas and organizations that enter the Spring Grant Competition.

“The way the community can get involved, they can purchase tickets. You can go to our website, they’re available now at www.mccf.org. And you can buy individual tickets for $30 dollars a piece. Or if you’re a company and you’d like to buy a corporate table, a sponsorship patron table, you can do that, that’s $750 for those eight tickets as well as some other goodies that are included in that as well. So there is only a limited number of those patron tables.”

Groundhog Day Celebration attendees can anticipate unique auction items, a wonderful meal from the Zane State Culinary Arts program as well as a good opportunity to network and socialize on the last Friday of January.
