MCSO is investigating multiple structure fire started after family dispute

NASHPORT – The Sheriff’s Office was called early this afternoon to 8305 Black Run Road for a fire. The Frazeysburg, Madison, Licking, and Falls Township Fire Department were on scene as well. It is believed that the fire was set intentionally.
“We had an individual that lived in one of the houses and set fire to a couple of the houses and a barn and then was in the yard with a weapon threatening to harm himself,” Muskingum Co. Sheriff Matt Lutz said.
Muskingum County Sheriff’s deputies worked to avoid the suspect causing any injury to himself.
“So, our officers obviously arrived. They had dispatched the Fire Department and the squad, however, they really couldn’t bring them into the scene because of this individual threatening harm with a weapon in the yard so our officers spent probably close to 30 minutes at least talking this person down and trying to reason with him and finally was able to get the weapon from him and take him into custody,” Lutz said.
No one was injured from the fire. The incident is under investigation. Sheriff Lutz has not yet released the name of the suspect.
