Mid-East CTC Hosts Community Baby Shower

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The inside of the Mid-East Career and Technology Center was decked out in pink and blue this afternoon as moms-to-be gathered for a celebration.
Not only was there cupcakes and food. Madison Johnson, a student who organized the shower says there was a lot of information for mothers and mothers-to-be to learn about the new bundles of joy.
“We decided we wanted to host a community baby shower and with this baby shower we had moms who are expectant — or like expectant mothers come in — and went through sessions on CPR, breast feeding, introducing solid foods and safe sleeping for babies. And then, we had some other community organizations set up other informational tables — they can walk around. And they got some real giveaways.”
Johnson says they wanted information that would be helpful and practical for new mothers to know.
“We reached out to local organizations and asked them — some of the organizations are some that have been here when we did it in the past and asked them if they would want to come. And we talked to them about what they think would be best for the moms to learn about.”
Another student, Emily Bowman, says they organized the event so that no mom would have to feel alone.
“We decided to do the baby shower so that mothers knew about the resources and if they ever feel like they don’t have anybody to turn to they have resources available and handouts for them.
About 25 expectant moms attended the community baby shower.
