Mobile Unit Comes to Muskingum County Pound for Spay and Neutering

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A mobile unit from Columbus came to the Muskingum County Pound to offer low-cost spay and neutering for dogs Tuesday. The pound said that they have been trying to get the truck from Columbus Dog Connection to come to Zanesville for four years. Doug McQuaid, a volunteer with the Muskingum County Pound, said spay and neutering is something every pet owner should do.
“You should for every animal,” said McQuaid. “This has been a long time coming. This is something the general public needs to know. It’s not only important for the reproduction of the animals, but for the health of the animal.”
McQuaid said today that the mobile unit helped 30 dogs and he hopes that the Columbus Dog Connection’s mobile truck will become a regular appearance in Zanesville. He also hopes future events the pounds is having will help dogs find homes.
“On May 21 we’re going to have an open house from 10-2. We will have compassion dogs and therapy dogs, K-9 demonstrations and tours of our facility. So maybe that day some other dogs can get adopted,” said McQuaid.
