More Permanent Fix to Potholes Coming Soon
A more permanent fix to the potholes popping up in the streets of Zanesville is on it’s way.
According to Street and Sanitation Superintendent, Jeff Shook, the department is waiting for the plants that manufacture the hot mix to open. Which he said should hopefully be by the middle of next week. Until then they are continuing to fix the roads with the temporary mix.
“If it’s rain and cold they’ll wait a while to open that plant up. Because, when it’s cold, you know, it’s hot and it cools down so quick when the drivers start leaving the plant” explained Shook.
The hot mix is actually about half the cost of the temporary mix at $63 a ton.
He explained how the pot holes will be fixed once the hot mix is available, saying, “we just sweep them out, try to make sure they are good and dry. And then when we put the hot mix in and then it will bond better than the cold mix. 2:03 ”
Shook said they are not receiving many work orders concerning potholes from area residents, but crews are out almost every day looking for them to fix.
