Murder Trial Ends With Plea Deal

The trial of a Zanesville man charged with murder ends after just one day.  Whiz reporter Mackenzie Stasko says that 20-year-old Shaquille Davis has accepted a plea deal and pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of murder, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse. The trial started on Tuesday.  Davis, who acted as his own attorney was charged with aggravated murder with a firearm specification, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse in the death of Phillip Kimbro Jr. last year.  Kimbro’s body was found on fire by a tree trimminig crew on County Road 15 in Morgan County.The Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office says during a change of plea hearing Davis pled guilty to murder with a firearm specification, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.  Judge Mark Fleegle ordered a pre-sentence investigation.  Two other counts of tampering with evidence will be dropped at time of sentencing which will likey be 20-years in prison.
