Museum Rich in Ohio History

Ohio history is brought to life thanks to a special museum.
The Ridge Museum in Glenford honors the history of Native Americans and pioneers. Owner Jerry Maines spent years collecting artifacts around the Black Hand Gorge area. He and his wife decided to open a museum to feature his collection.
"He wanted this so people could come with families and not have to pay a big fee, the admission is always free, all of our events are free," said museum owner, Joan Maines.
Sunday was the 3rd Annual Native American and Pioneer Cultural Event. It showcases products that Native Americans and pioneer people made. An Indian Pow-Wow will take place at the museum on September 8th and 9th.
"We have Native American drumming going on, we have three drum groups coming, we have dancing, we have a head man dancer, a head lady dancer. We have a circle out there with a fire going in it all the time and they dance in that circle. We’ll also have the vendors," said Maines.
Any donations received at the Pow-Wow will go to the Lima Company Memorial and Tri-County Gold Star Families. The museum on Flint Ridge Road is open Wednesday through Sunday.
