Muskingum Co. Board of Elections reminding that Oct.5th is last day for voter registration

ZANESVILLE – If a voter has not registered before or has underwent a name or address change, they will need to have the proper information updated by 9:00 PM on the 5th. So far, the Board has dealt with some confusion about absentee voting.
“There’s been some confusion in regards to what an absentee ballot is so that is basically absentee vote by mail. You’re choosing to vote from home and there is a request form you need to fill out to ask for that ballot to be sent to you,” Elections Specialist Cheryl West said.
Starting October 6th, voters will have a chance to cast their ballots for in-office early voting.
“If they choose to do that, they would need to be aware that there could be some lines. You know, we are practicing being a safe voting location so we are asking voters that they wear a mask to be prepared to wait in line to wash or sanitize their hands before and after voting and if they do have any kind of symptoms being ill or have been exposed to COVID-19 to please possibly utilize the curbside voting and if they have questions about that they can talk to somebody when they come in if they’re interested in curbside voting,” West said.
The Board of Elections expects a large turnout for both absentee voting and of people who choose to vote at the polls.
