The Muskingum County Library Levy Passed

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County Library Levy did pass this election.
There are six library locations spread across Muskingum County. Jennifer Spillman the Executive Director of the Library System said to be supported countywide is a wonderful feeling.
“Muskingum County Library System Board of Trustees, the Library Staff and I would like to say a huge thank you to the voters of Muskingum County for their generous support and passage of the library levy,” Spillman said.
Now that the levy is passed they plan to continue to provide the servicees they currently have. They will begin to offer the technology, programs, hours, and support to the community as well as move forward with their strategic plan.
“We’re covering five areas that are really important to this community. The first one is advancing all literacy and libraries worldwide are known for early childhood literacy so we are focusing on that but we also focus on teen and adult reading literacy,” Spillman said.
This will also include working on financial literacy with United Way to provide tax services for the community this winter, digital literacy, customer service, and continuing to have safe and welcoming facilities. She says her favorite part will be creating an outreach department to possibly provide the needs to nursing homes, schools and other places who may need the attention, this will kickoff starting in January.
Spillman invites people to visit their area library to get a library card to take advantage of their offers or go online to receive a digital card for immediate access.
