Muskingum Recreation Center prepares for 5K

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum Recreation Center is just three days away from holding their annual Red, White and Run 5K.
The patriotic themed run is 3.1 miles, and Muskingum Rec Center Event Planner, Becky Weir said she expects this to be the biggest race yet. Weir says they already have close to 190 runners but you can still sign up for the 5-K.
Weir said, “I think it is going to be our best attendance yet. Right now, we are probably up to 190 and last year we were at 180 at this time. So, come on out. Get your registration in. You can sign up the day of, but the cost does go up by $5 for that day, so it will be $30 on the day of.”
If you are not running in the 5K, you can still go and enjoy a one mile family race, an inflatable obstacle course, snow cones, games and more. Weir said this is the perfect time to wear patriotic clothes, support the recreation center, and to have a great time.
“Well it’s kind of to show your patriotic side and we have the fire department come out and they hang the big flag and just community support and supporting our Muskingum Recreation Center,” Weir said.
The 5K will start at 8:00 AM on the 4th of July. Weir wants to thank everyone who has signed up, and those who will come support on race day.
