ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Muskingum Starlight Industries is spending the day celebrating their new sites.

The first open house took place on Tuesday, January 15th from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at their Maple Avenue location. Muskingum Starlight industries is a non-profit organization with the purpose of supporting those with developmental disabilities.

CEO of Muskingum Starlight Industries Mary Thompson-Hufford said, “I think often times when people think about services to adults with disabilities they think about the workshop and how for several decades people with disabilities all congregated in one setting to learn work skills. We’ve learned a lot about how to support people with disabilities and we’ve realized that helping people be connected in the community to develop work skills in the community is much more effective.”

Thompson-Hufford said the purpose of the new buildings are to continue the quality and efficiency of their services. They plan to continue to focus on building skills and providing meaningful connections throughout to encourage engagement.

“One of the things that I continually am impressed with day after day is people’s enthusiasm for being part of the community and having relationships and often times we see people with developmental disabilities being isolated and not having the same opportunities that you and I have,” Thompson-Hufford said.

The next open house takes place on Tuesday, January 29th from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 1155 Newark Rd. If you would like to learn more information about the new buildings, you can give their office a call at (740) 641-8347.
