Nashport Domestic Stabbing

NASHPORT, Ohio – The Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a stabbing on Sunday, February 3rd.

Around 10:00 p.m. deputies received reports of a domestic situation going on at 3330 Babbs Road Apartment F. When Deputies arrived they did locate the 44-year-old female victim.

“We did have an injury from a knife,” Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz said. “She had received two injuries, one was kind of a slashing cut injury to the upper chest area and the other was a small puncture wound around the abdominal area.”

The victim, who is married to the suspect, was transported to the hospital and was treated then released. The suspect is John W. Gillespie of Nashport.

“The male suspect was 61-years-old, was taken into custody. He’s currently in the Muskingum County Jail waiting charges,” Sheriff Lutz said.

The suspect did cooperate and was not injured during his arrest. Gillespie has been charged with one count of felonious assault.
