Nern’s buzzer beater sends Rosecrans past Shenandoah

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Rosecrans-Shenandoah boys basketball game Saturday night was like something out of a movie.
Rosecrans trailed by six points at the break, but fought back to stay in the game. With 16 seconds left in the game the Zeps had a two point lead and were shooting two free throws. Shenandoah missed both shots, giving Rosecrans a chance.
Jack Goggin got the rebound and the Bishops moved down the floor. Westen Nern pulled up for a game winning three-pointer from the far side wing. The buzzer sounded as the ball hit the rim, bounced about two foot in the air, and then came down through the hoop to give Rosecrans the win.
Freshman Josh Merva was the leading scorer for Rosecrans with 19 points.
Next up for Rosecrans is Fairfield Christian Academy on Tuesday.
