New Concord Plants Tree for Arbor Day

The last Friday in April marks national Arbor Day in the United States.
The Village of New Concord celebrated by continuing its long tradition of planting a tree on Main Street with the assistance of the second grade students of New Concord Elementary School.
This year’s tree was planted at the corner of Main and Stormont Street.
New Concord works closely with the state foresters of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for guidance in selection and maintenance of its trees and is one of the oldest Tree City USA communities in Ohio at 41 years.
This is the 150th Anniversary of the tree planter’s holiday, which was established in 1872 in Nebraska.
