New Covenant Church blesses people weekly with food

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The New Covenant Church held a spontaneous community giveaway this afternoon for members around the community.

New Covenant Church Food Ministry helper, Samantha Puterbaugh said the amount of food they receive is a blessing, and anyone that is in need of the food can come out and take what they need. They do these giveaways about once a week, and they will alert you a couple of hours prior to the start of the giveaway.

“This is absolutely a helping hand.God doesn’t offer handouts. God gives a hand-up. That is what this is. This is an extension of their budget. This is a helps ministry. This is helping someone make that decision between food or medicine, a utility and food. This is an absolute help to them,” said Puterbaugh.

One community member that enjoys the offerings is Kim Collins. Collins said these generous giveaways help hundreds in the community.

“It is a blessing. I’ve seen a lot of people come in here that really need the food that is given. Sam always makes sure that everybody gets something and we all do,” Collins added.
