New West Muskingum Elementary dedication

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – West Muskingum Elementary opened up on a Sunday for a dedication ceremony for their brand new school.
The first day of class for the new building off of Route 40 was this past Tuesday. West Muskingum Local School District Superintendent Bill Harbron said he couldn’t be happier with the how the building turned out.
“It’s a wonderful space for children. It was designed to be like home for a child when they are away at school. And the architect caught all the elements. It’s everything that we dreamed and aspired for it to be,†said Superintendent Harbron.
Harbron said the concept of the building was first thought of in December of 2013 and coast 18 million dollars to construct. The design of the building, he said, is like no other in the state.
“What you’re looking at is a building that has a flexible design to it,†said Superintendent Harbron. “Basically, rather than looking at classrooms, you’re looking at learning studios that are designed for different elements of instruction. We partially designed those studios surrounding a greet room because we wanted students to feel like they are coming home.â€
The new structure has a capacity of 600.
