Nursing Career Fair at OUZ

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Healthcare has become a major occupation in recent years and nurses are always in demand. Ohio University Zanesville Assistant Professor of Nursing John Byerly talked about an upcoming career fair that will draw 13 employers looking to hire nurses.
“So the event is ‘A day in the Life: Nursing Career Fair.’ This is going to be Thursday, February 2nd,” Byerly said. “It’s going to be held in our Elson Hall Auditorium. And this event is going to be held from 10:30 to about 1:30 that day. We are going to have a special nurse panel, though that will be taking place from about 10:45 to 11:15, where we will have nurses from different areas in healthcare that will be presenting a brief ‘Day in the Life.’ And then after that they will be available for questions and answers.”
Nursing is an occupation that covers a broad spectrum of duties and the career fair that is open to the public will feature tables that showcases the employers and the types of care they provide.
“For the nurse panel for instance, we’re going to have a hospice nurse as well as nurses from behavioral health units, nurses that are working in critical care, working in medical surgical areas, and that’ll kind of spread into the career fair as well. We have home healthcare agencies, again we have behavioral health facilities and then we’re going to have actual hospitals here that will be actively recruiting for open positions,” Byerly said.
The event will begin 10:30 a.m. at the Ohio University Zanesville Elson Hall Auditorium. Signs will be posted around the campus to guide attendees to the event.
