ODOT Plans for Winter Storm

The Ohio Department of Transporation is preparing for what could be a major winter storm taking aim on the state.

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine said he’s urging Ohioans to avoid unnecessary trips during the storm to give road crews room to work. He said that those that do have to be out should be safe and take it slow, giving plenty of time to reach your destination.

In our area ODOT crews expect freezing rain to be the biggest threat. Officials said freezing rain is the most challenging because crews can’t pre-treat roads ahead of the storm.

Once roads are treated, rain continuously washes the material away.

ODOT is responsible for more than 43,000 lane miles of state and US routes and all interstates.
