‘OhioMeansJobs’ has funding for training and education

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- OhioMeansJobs has funding available to assist people looking to find a job or improve their current one.

If you are in school, looking for a job, or looking for training to improve your current job, OhioMeansJob in Muskingum County has funding to help pay for training and education. OhioMeansJobs supervisor Julie Metzger said people looking to improve their career can have part of their schooling paid for.

“We have funding available to assist with schooling, short-term training. We can help assist with, if you qualify for FAFSA and maybe they don’t pick up the whole bill, we have funding for that available. If you’re what we call a dislocated worker, where you have been laid off from your job and you’re thinking of going back to school there’s really no income guidelines for someone who has been laid off,” said Metzger.

Metzger said paying for training or furthering someone’s education creates more jobs in the area leading to a better economy and a stronger support for businesses. Businesses offering current employees more training can also receive funding from OhioMeansJobs. Both companies and people can receive funding throughout the year for training and education.

“We always have money for training dollars. So, it’s not something we just have at this point, it’s something we have year around. Maybe, you’re not starting this quarter or maybe you might even be in the middle of a quarter or a semester. Maybe you missed and you’ve already started we might be able to pick up during that second session or second semester and help you with funding that way too,” said Metzger.
