Parkinson’s group to raise awareness at health fair

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Zanesville Parkinson’s Group is preparing to set up a booth a local health fair to raise awareness for Parkinson’s.
The health fair will take place at Colony Square Mall and will feature multiple activities for families to enjoy. The Zanesville Parkinson’s Group All Shook Up will have a booth where they will share support information with the community.
“We want to be there as a presence for Parkinson’s patients and their families,” said Amy Dunn the President of All Shook Up. “Someone to talk to who has Parkinson’s who understands the journey and who’s been here to the exercise group.”
Dunn said there is very little help for Parkinson’s patients in this area which is why the group has launched a new initiative called “Sharing the Success”. The group has applied for a grant through the Muskingum County Community Foundation to help pay for publication of 2,000 informational packets for those suffering from the disease.
“We have patients from six counties that come here. There are no doctors for Parkinson’s specialists,” said Dunn. “No specialists within those six counties. We have to either travel to Columbus, Portsmith, or Cleveland to get to a movement disorder specialist.”
The superhero themed health fair will be April 6th and 7th. You can stop by the Parkinson’s group booth to learn more information about their programs.
