Philo’s Gill and Deal heading to play college football

DUNCAN FALLS, Ohio – Two Philo football players are heading to opposite corners of Ohio to play college football.
Last week both Philo’s Issac Gill and Lane Deal signed on the dotted line to play college ball. Gill will be heading to Athens to play for Ohio University. Deal signed to play for Findlay.
Gill played quarterback, saftey, and return man for the Electrics and will be going to OU to try to play defensive back for Frank Solich’s Bobcats. Gill said he’s happy that the search for a place to play college football is over.
“It was kind of stressful with all the schools I had to talk to. On the visits they stood out the most. [Ohio] had more a wow factor than the other ones,” said Gill
Deal played center and defensive line for the Electrics but said he’ll focus on the defensive side of the ball for the Oilers. Like Gill, he said he’s excited to start his college football career.
“When I looked at it, I just knew that’s where I want to be for the next four years. I really like their weight room and facilities. I just knew as soon as I stepped on campus I knew it was the place for me,” said Deal.
Both are dual sport athletes and helped lead the Philo football team to an MVL championship last season and an appearance in the regional semi-final last year.
