Power of the Purse

ZANESVILLE, OH- The Power of the Purse continues to make an impact on our community after fifteen years.

Today at the Muskingum County Community Foundation the event organizers announced that the around 100 purses auctioned off brought in around 75-thousand dollars. The money was given to several non-profits, Eastside Community Ministry, Christ’s Table, the Muskingum County Community Foundation, the Fieldhouse Foundation and Habitat for Humanity. Organizer for Power of the Purse, Marlene Henderson, spoke about why this event is important.

“It builds everything in our community, it helps take care of the people right here where we live and work every day. That’s the greatest part because it stays local, it helps our community non-profits and it helps build lives for people right here in Muskingum County.”

Habitat for Humanity’s Melissa Best spoke about how this will help her organization.

“Charities around here could not do the work that we do, without kind and generous people like Power of the Purse Committee and this event. Every dollar matters and we couldn’t do it without events like this so were grateful.”

Power of the Purse may be over but residents can still donate purses and gift cards for next years auction.
