Red Cross Celebrates Giving Day

ZANESVILLE, Ohio-The American Red Cross is celebrating its yearly giving today with the idea that help can’t wait. 

The Red Cross is a charitable organization that looks to help those in times of crisis. They do so through donation, volunteer work and community education. 

“Giving day, it’s primarily through donations. So, going on the site redcross.orggivingday, you’re able to make your donation. There’s not a minimal set amount, you’re able to give as little or as much as you want. 90% of every dollar is going back to this campaign, and this campaign is really targeted towards disaster relief as well as home fire relief.”, regional communications director Michael Tyler told WHIZ via Zoom.

The Red Cross knows that the past year has been difficult for families and individuals all over the country. They are looking to be prepared for emergencies before they happen. 

“We feel that we should always be prepared for every type of disaster. Giving Day is happening primarily, knock on wood, there’s no disasters going on in our area, particularly in Zanesville. There’s no real large disasters going on. We would love to continuously be a proactive organization.”, Tyler continued.

The organization says they are remaining committed to their mission of enriching the communities they serve.
