Riesbeck’s Boxed Lunch Program is a Success

Wednesday, November 12th, Riesbeck grocery store held its closing ceremony for their Boxed Lunch program benefiting breast cancer research.

Beginning Monday, October 6th, the grocery store sold a variety of boxed lunches every Friday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in which all of the proceeds would benefit local cancer coalitions.

Jane Dombroski, Riesbeck’s store events coordinator, informed us about the huge success of the program, "Almost 6,000 boxes that we sold, so that is huge, huge, numbers and again we’re just thrilled."

The Cancer Concern Coalition, who provide financial support that medical insurance does not cover for cancer patients, is one of the organizations that will benefit from the boxed lunch program. Today they were presented with a check for $4,201.33. This large donation is double the amount they received in 2013.

"It is amazing, it’s so great to see the home town support for all of the patients that are struggling and battling going through their cancer journey, so it’s amazing that this group of people really feel so strongly as to give back and these patients will benefit from it so much," said Shannon White from the Cancer Concern Coalition.

In total the boxed lunch program raised over $9,000. The remainder of this amount will be dispersed among other local cancer coalitions.
