Riesbeck’s to Participate in Drug Take-Back Event

This Saturday, the 27th, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Riesbeck’s in South Zanesville is taking part in the DEA Drug Take-Back event.

Any unused, expired or unnecessary pills that are in your home can be brought to the pharmacy for proper disposal. According to Jane Dombroski, Store Event Coordinator for Riesbeck’s, this event allows potentially dangerous medications to be removed from the community.

"It’s important because we want to get those drugs off the street and out of the hands of little ones that may be able to pilferage through and get their hand on something that could be harmful. As well as just discarding out in the community, where someone could just walk by and pick it up and ingest that. And that is not a good thing" says Dombroski.

Dombroski also says that any of these medications should not be discarded by flushing them down the toilet or throwing them away. It is important that they are disposed of properly. Sheriff Matt Lutz, says that Reisbeck’s involvement in the DEA Drug Take-Back Day is paramount in the community.

"We’re very fortunate here to have two spots" says Sheriff Lutz, "A lot of counties only have one. Riesbeck’s is doing this in multiple counties, where ever they have stores at and its great for our citizens to be bale to have a place like this to come."

The health department will also be participating in the DEA Drug Take-Back event.
