ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Riverside Softball Complex in Zanesville has been making improvements to its field and will be hosting several tournaments starting this month.

The Zanesville-Muskingum County Convention and Visitor Bureau is looking forward to having visitors from the teams this Spring and Summer. Sport tournaments bring in a lot of guests, allowing them to utilize the different restaurants and places in Muskingum County.

“It’s just a huge economic impact on our area. These teams come in and spend the night, they stay in the hotels, they camp, they eat, they go to restaurants, they go to our stores because they forgot their cleats,” said Chamber Vice President Kelly Ashby.

Softball Commissioner Johanna Hedges has put in a lot of effort and hard work into the well kept field. Many additions have been made as well.

“There are some new ins and outs of Riverside, some roads that have been closed previously are now open so the flow of traffic will be fantastic. There’s new signage that’s going in,” said Ashby.

The CVB and Hedges will also be providing packets to each team member that arrives. They will include information about where to stay and what to do, encouraging visitors to come back to the area. Businesses can contact the CVB if they would like to include information in the packets
