Rockville Road Fire Started in Living Room

Trailer Fire

The State Fire Marshal’s Office and Muskingum County Coroner continue their investigation into a trailer fire that turned fatal Monday.

The fire happened just after Noon on Rockville Road near Gaysport. Lt. Cody Smith of the Wayne Township Fire Department said that the State Fire Marshal’s Office was unable to determine a cause of the fire, but did say it began in the living room area. The name of the victim is not being released at this time.

Lt. Smith said that they encourage all residents to have working smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors in their homes. He said smoke detectors save lives and provide an early warning sign of a fire. Every home should have at least one smoke detector on each floor of your home, including the basement.
