Rosecrans trying to instill basketball success at an early age

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – For the 26th year Bishop Rosecrans head coach Todd Rock has helped young basketball players learn the skills of the game.

Dozens of youngsters from kindergarten through high school were at Bishop Rosecrans High School to learn some of the finer points of the game. Coach Rock said they also try to instill more than just basketball skills.

“We also try to teach lessons about life. We had 15-minute session about what to do and what not to do on social media. We try to cover all aspects of it. More than just basketball for our kids,” Rock said.

The summer camp started 26 years ago and Rock hopes that many of the kids who came out for the three-day camp will one day be wearing a Bishops uniforms.

“This camp helps build the program. It’s hard once you lose a program to get it back. Even in a year like this year where we lost seven senior, all five starters, we still think we can be competitive and that’s what it’s all about,” Rock said.

Wednesday is the last day for the camp.
