ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Bomb threats against schools continues to be a big problem.
Ohio is among the states with the most threats. The Muskingum County Sheriff’s office isn’t taking the issue lightly.
“We take it very serious,” Sheriff Matt Lutz said. “It really causes a lot of issues for us as first responders, not only for law enforcement but for fire department, and the squads. In the past we’ve had to put a lot of resources into the those investigations.”
Sheriff Lutz said he will prosecute anyone who makes a threat to the fullest extent of law.
“If a juvenile is charged one of the parents has to attend juvenile court with the child. As a parent you’re responsible for what your child does. If a judge would issue any kind of repercussions as far as restitution, the parent is going to have to follow up with that,” Lutz said.
Lutz said the sheriff’s office is committed to ensuring area schools remain safe.
