School Supplies Given Away In Mcconnelsville

ZANESVILLE, Ohio-The Main Street Church of Christ gave school supplies to area children today. 

The giveaway began at two pm and followed strict rules for social distancing. Chief Organizer Kayla Ross says the event is a big deal for the church. 

“We’re having our school supply giveaway. We’ve done this for three years now. Our vacation bible school kids bring in school supplies as their mission and then the church helps buy some as well and we just open the doors and give out supplies to any kids who need them… We have enough for 100 kids and so we’re hoping to give all of that away.”

Ross says that the uncertainty of the year has made it even more important to give supplies. 

“It’s definitely important this year for every kid to have their own school supplies because they’re not supposed to share things in school and we want to cut down on that. It’s definitely important for them to have their own supplies and it’s just harder to get things. Lots of families have lost their jobs and are having extra expenses so definitely needed to help out this year.”
