DRESDEN, Ohio — The game started an hour late, but the Scotties made up for it by ending it in five innings, as Tri-Valley defeated Mifflin 13-1 on Monday evening in their state tournament opener.

First pitch didn’t occur until after 6 p.m. due to Mifflin getting to Dresden late, and Tri-Valley was more than prepared.

The Scotties put up 7 runs in the first inning, despite recording just one official hit. Then after going one, two, three in the second, Tri-Valley plated 6 more run in the 3rd to take a insurmountable 13-0 lead.

The Cowpunchers got a run back in the 4th to make it 13-1, and threatened to extend the game when they loaded the bases with two outs in the 15th, before a fly out to left field ended the game.

Tri-Valley will now travel to Lancaster for a meeting with the Golden Gales on Wednesday evening.
