New Female Officer Sworn In at ZPD

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A new female officer has been sworn into the Zanesville Police Department.
Officer Haley McLean says she has wanted to be in law enforcement since she was a young child.
“It’s a really good feeling. I feel accomplished to be able to help the community and be able to go where I’ve wanted to go since I was just a little girl.”
As a female officer, McLean will bring a unique perspective to the force.
“It means a lot to be able to handle situations different than men. Sometimes, women can be more nurturing than men so we can go into a situation and be able to help children and families. Just be able to be a support for women that are going through things; or even men who are going through things. It helps to be just a great support for the community.”
McLean graduated from Zane State College in May 2019; and previously served as a Corrections Officer at the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office. The Zanesville Police Department answers approximately 35,000 calls each year.
