ZANESVILLE, Ohio- U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) made a stop in Muskingum County Tuesday afternoon.

Senator Brown stopped in Zanesville to talk about the several ways that President-Elect Donald Trump can follow through on his campaign promises regarding trade.

Senator Brown sent a letter a few days after the election to the President-Elect and the transition staff offering an outline to improve trade policy that will work for Ohioans and protect American manufacturing jobs.

“My first votes in the house were against NAFTA so I know a lot about that agreement. I’ve worked on it a long time, I think it’s been bad for our country, I want to fix it. I have some expertise to know how to do that and I’ve offered that to President Trump,” said Senator Brown.

Senator Brown said that he doesn’t care what Mr. Trump’s party affiliation is, or what he has said. But he wants to see what he does and he’s willing to work with him when he’s right, and fight against him when he’s wrong.

The senator, who spoke at the Democratic National Convention this past summer, said his job is to fight for Ohio.

“If President Trump does what I hear he’s going to and wants to raise the retirement age and eligibility age for Medicare wants to privatize social security, I’ll be leading the charge against him,” said Senator Brown. “If it’s good for Ohio what he does I’m there, if it’s bad for Ohio, I oppose it.”
